Seriously, is it their best chance of re-grouping?
That hammering today was unbelievable when you take into account Galway had 16 wides, missed a penalty and had a goal disallowed and still won by 12 points.
Cork are now number 5 in Munster and also rate behind Galway, Kilkenny, Dublin, Wexford and Antrim.
That would make them in or around number 10, on a par with Offaly.
They now need to blood a serious amount of youngsters.
Remember they are also number also 5 in minor in Munster for the past few years.
They are way behind the rest of the teams in Munster in re building which will leave them open to even more hammerings.
The Christy Ring might be a good place for these guys to build up a bit of confidence and give them a chance to regain the old Cork swagger that we are all used to.
Just a thought...

this Cork team were a few seconds away from Winning a munster championship in 2010 but to be deined by a Tony Browne goal to draw level and thenfor cork to be beaten in the replay.
No doubt they will be back but Cork might be the whipping boys of Munster for a few years

I have played for many a team in various sports but even if I hadn`t, how would that deflect from the fact that you are one of the biggest fools on here? Where are you even from?

I`m afraid your plethora of imbecilic and inane comments on hurling here means that you have virtually cornered the market here as the biggest fool.
You might have played any amount of sports but you obviously never even caught a hurley in your life.
Judging by your clueless comments you are one of these sunshine supporters who only started taking an interest in hurling in 1998 when Waterford came back to prominence.

Ha ha, good man. I suppose if you`d been Paddy Power, you probably would have already paid out on the Dubs winning the All Ireland after the Galway match :- )

..... oh and as for catching hurleys? I`m not sure what sport you are on about there. You are right, I never played that game. Good man.

Redlead - I`d let it go if I was you....you won`t get much logic there. Sure based on mochuda`s line of thinking, Kilkenny should have opted out of the race for Liam this year after the league final!

Are you serious. If so you should stop posting as you can`t possibly be taken seriously after that comment.

Could you explain how they are 5th in Munster and behind Wexford Dublin and Antrim?.Whwn have any of those teams beaten this Cork team in championship?.Just because you say it doesnt make it so.Cork are poor but Dublin are not much better,as for Antrim and Wexford have you bothered to check their most recent results and against a lot worse opposition than Galway.

Could have done with some of that 10-20 they wallopped past Laois, as I said at the time they`d need some of them goals before the year was out

Enter the chirsy ring??? For what exactly??? To condemn them to another year of embarrassing defeats??? Surely if Cork want to get back playing with a bit of confidence the Nicky Rackard cup is the only way to go

This is either a WUM or a massive overreaction. Cork hurling is at low ebb, yes. But we knew that, this has been coming for a few years and we will be in transition for a few years. But we will be back, we are a strong hurling country with good structures.
To say we are behind Antrim is a massive over exaggeration though. On a par with Offaly, I think not seeing as how we beat them with 14 men reasonably comfortably only a week or so ago.
Perhaps the most concerning is not todays result but the poor results at underage in recent years. Next weeks U21 game against Tipp carries even more significance now seeing as the senior, intermediate and minor campaigns are all over.

And some of us were hoping that match was like that last season of "Dallas" in the 1980s - we`d wake up to find all of that was just a bad nightmare.
No luck.

Ridiculous thread which I trust is a ______- take.
In KK of all the hurling counties Cork is by far the most competitiv overall.
Only in February this year the Cork clubs beat Callan & Dicksboro in the junior & intermediate All Irelands & Cork teams will be back beating us at senior level soon enough also I have no doubt.

This thread is obviously a WUM (and not even a good one ) .
Hurling needs Cork. Cork will be back but the current situation is a consequence of the `Has Been Hurlers` winning their strike at the expense of a great hurling man in Gerald.
Get rid of the SIPTU lads and stop reading the rubbish from Sean Og and the Rock. Time to rebuild. Perhaps Justin and Gerald have a calling in this respect...
