Will be interesting to see how some of us found this website.
For me there was an article on the programme of some match I was attending last Summer (possibly the Leinster final ) which I read and then logged on the following Monday.
Will also be interesting to hear how some of our contributitors such as Michael Stone found the site!!

I remember (2001/2002?? ) Ian Dempsey of all people read out a request regarding AFR the morning it was launched so I knew about it from day one. Properly started lurking and posting in 2003 I think - pretty much when the board started to take off I`d imagine.

From a match programme last year. My productivity went down around 26% since the Monday after.

While still searching (hopelessly and in vain ) for the old Clarehurlers shortly after it had met its demise...and finding many of the posters had congregated here.

where did Seafoid get to? I have not seen the username in a long long time.
Fearon was an anti-hero.

Fearon was an anti-hero.
Seafoid went to Ballymaloo Cookery School for a spell and had the misfortune to come across some less than humble hurling folk from Cloyne.
He came back with such a virulent hatred of all things Cork that he didnt know how to hate Tipp as much anymore so he had to return to his native Galway to be debriefed.
I last came across him in the Imperial Hotel on Munster final day 2002 when he took as much pleasure as we did in celebrating our victory.

He still pens the odd letter to the Belfast Telegraph letters page attempting to portray the GAA in a positive light, but comes across as completely the opposite.
I discovered AFR many years ago by putting `GAA` into a search engine called Infoseek, long before `google` became a verb.

No, he used to post information and comments on it and try to get people to visit his site as well. I could never see the harm in that. . Some people chose to call it "spam", which it never really was. People like Maire Gan Knickers and so on

First Douche! Har de har har...
Yes I admit as a young internetting buck I had my cyber-spat with AFR over his spamming of the GAA board...call it information, advertising, promoting whatever you like. Either way, I, and others took issue with it.
I had no problem with AFR posting and commenting like any of the rest of us but the spamming reached epidemic proportions at one stage. We had our disagreement. The gaaboard is now pretty much the preserve of the bucks north of the border and anfearrua.com has, rightfully, gone from strength to strength. I`m sure Mr. Cahill has no hard feelings over the issue. We had a disagreement, end of story.

Jeez CCHA, I forgot all about seafoid. I remember myself, himself and GMB had an extremely heated debate over `89 once that went one for what seemed miles of threads. Of course we were beaten by the wonderfully colourful prose of the Galtee Mountain Boy (who I have my suspicions may have been Vincent Hogan ) . There were some great consistent characters on that site in fairness.
