12. Eileen O’Brien (Limerick)
13. Eimear McDonnell (Tipperary)
14. Deirdre Hughes (Tipperary)
15. Fiona O’Driscoll (Cork)
Some interesting things you might not know about some of these stars:
Jovita Delaney is now teaching in Tarbert, county Kerry, from where it is reported that 'she has found the man of her dreams'. She has four senior All Ireland medals to her credit. If you need a good pair of shoes or trendy thigh boots, Rose Collins works in a Limerick shoe store. Úna O'Dwyer was recently honoured as 'Irish Tatler' magazine's 'Woman of the Year Highly Commended Sports Star'. Úna is currently checking out the scene 'Down Under'.
Stephanie Dunlea has earned her recognition, not least for having to listen to her sister Lynn analysing her games on RTÉ's 'Sunday Sport'. Garda Ciara Gaynor has shown herself well able to 'put the shackles' on all her opponents this year. AFR's spies tell him she is currently on the trail of an interesting suspect somewhere on the Limerick/Tipperary border. Vera Sheenan featured on the 'Breaking Ball' programme this year, along with her sisters Maureen, Deirdre and Aoife and she's thinking of heading off to 'Oz'… must be all those Aussie Rules games on telly these days. Limerick's Eileen O'Brien holds no fewer than
sixteen
All Ireland medals at different grades. At fourteen, Claire Grogan became one of the youngest players ever to win an All Ireland senior medal.
Cork's Emer Dillon finds the time to play hockey with Harlequins. Eimear McDonnell was 'Player of the Match' in this year's All Ireland. Appropriately enough, Deirdre Hughes works in a store in Nenagh called 'Sportsman's Dream' and would be the dream of many's the sportsman. Fiona O'Driscoll holds six All Ireland senior medals with Cork.
