Semi finals in three provinces
Connacht, Leinster and Ulster stage provincial semi-finals in the Bank of Ireland football championships next Sunday while there will also be big interest in the draw for the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers which will feature the teams (other than those in Division Four of the NFL) who did not reach provincial finals.
The programme for Sunday is as follows:
Connacht SF semi-final: Leitrim v Galway, Carrick-on-Shannon, 2.00 (Live on RTE2)
Ulster SF semi-final: Derry v Monaghan, Casement Park, 3.30
Leinster SF semi-final: Dublin v Offaly, Croke Park, 4.00 (Live on RTE 2)
DUBLIN v OFFALY
Will it be a repeat of last year's Leinster final where Dublin powered to a nine-point win to complete their 7th successive championship win over their great midland rivals? Offaly's last championship win over Dublin was in the 1982 Leinster final where they won by nine points, en route to an All-Ireland success. Next Sunday's clash will be the 23rd championship meeting between the counties with Dublin leading 15-7.
Offaly had high hopes of success last year after wins over Westmeath, Kildare and Wexford but the Dublin attack (Tomas Quinn 0-8, Jason Sherlock 1-1, Alan Brogan 0-4, Conal Keaney 0-3) proved too slick for them. Dublin are seeking to reach their third successive Leinster final.
Dublin will be having their third outing in the current campaign, having drawn with, and beaten Meath, while Offaly accounted for Carlow in their quarter-final.
Last Five Championship Clashes
2006: Dublin 1-15 Offaly 0-9 (2006 Leinster final)
2001: Dublin 1-12 Offaly 0-13 (Leinster semi-final)
1992: Dublin 2-17 Offaly 1-7 (Leinster semi-final)
1986: Dublin 1-10 Offaly 0-17 (Leinster semi-final)
1985: Dublin 2-13 Offaly 0-10 (Leinster semi-final)
GALWAY v LEITRIM
Sligo await the winners in the Connacht final on July 8th. Galway are seeking to record their 8th successive win over Leitrim since 1995, having lost their previous two clashes in 1993-94.This will be the 30th championship clash between the counties, with Galway leading 24-4 while one game has been drawn.
Galway have reached seven Connacht finals (1998-99-2000-2002-2003-2005-2006) in the past ten years, winning five in 1998-2000-2002-2003-2005. Leitrim last reached the Connacht final in 2000 where they lost to Galway. They last won the title in 1994.
Galway dethroned reigning champions, Mayo (2-10 to 0-9) in the first round of this year's campaign while Leitrim booked a semi-final place by beating London (1-12 to 2-5).
Last 5 Championship Clashes
2005 – Galway 1-11 Leitrim 1-8
2003 – Galway 2-13 Leitrim 1-7
2001 – Galway 3-24 Leitrim 3-5
2000 – Galway 1-13 Leitrim 0-8
1998 – Galway 1-16 Leitrim 0-5
DERRY V MONAGHAN
Who will book a place in the final against Tyrone? Derry are seeking to reach the final for the first time since 2000 where they lost to Armagh while Monaghan last reached the final in 1988 where they beat Tyrone.
Derry and Monaghan last met in the Ulster championship in 2005 where Derry won a quarter final game by 1-17 to 2-8.
This will be their 23rd championship meeting, the results so far demonstrate an evenly balanced rivalry. It's 10-9 to Derry with three draws so far. Derry beat Antrim to reach the semi-final while Monaghan accounted for Down.

2005 – Derry 1-17 Monaghan 2-8

ALL-IRELAND QUALIFIER DRAW
The draw for the first round of the Bank of Ireland football qualifiers (July 7th) will take place next Sunday and will definitely feature the following counties:
Armagh, Cavan, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Mayo Roscommon, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Limerick.
They will be joined by the losers of Galway v Leitrim; Derry v Monaghan; Laois v Wexford. The Laois v Wexford game won't be played until Sunday week so they will feature as Laois or Wexford in the draw.
If Dublin lose to Offaly in Sunday's Leinster semi-final, they will also enter the draw. However, if Offaly lose, they will not be in the draw as counties in Division 4 of the National Football League are not eligible for the All-Ireland qualifiers unless they reach (and are beaten) the provincial final. In the event of Dublin losing to Offaly, it will leave 17 teams in the qualifiers which would necessitate one preliminary game to even up the numbers.
